The school running history of Xuedou mountain can be traced back to the night school founded by master zhuoxi Xuedou Temple of Taixu. Master Daxing, master fafang, elder Guangde and other senior sages have devoted themselves to the education of monks. Today, the great monk yizang carries forward the long cherished wish of his ancestors and carries forward the past and the future.

In October 1995, master yizang, then the abbot of Xuedou temple, established the night school of "Maitreya Sangha training class in Fenghua" in accordance with the legacy of Master Taixu. Since then, the Buddhist Education in Xuedou mountain has been continuously promoted. In August 1996, with the approval of the ethnic and Religious Affairs Department of Fenghua Municipal People's government, the "Maitreya Sangha training class in Fenghua City" was officially opened in Xuedou temple; in September 2007, the "Maitreya Buddhist College" was listed; in March 2011, the female Ministry of the college was officially established in the nizhong Temple Daci Temple in Xuedou mountain.

In 2013, with the approval of the State Bureau of religious affairs, Zhejiang Buddhist College, a four-year National Buddhist institution of higher learning, was organized. On May 17 of the following year, a licensing ceremony was held in Xuedou mountain. "Maitreya Buddhist College" was upgraded to "Xuedou mountain mile Buddha College of Zhejiang Buddhist College" with a four-year academic system and the goal of cultivating undergraduates. In December 2016, the headquarters of Zhejiang Buddhist College settled in Xuedou mountain.
